Run Defense Is Suspect

The run defense and Louisville front seven go hand-in-hand when talking about their run defense, or lack thereof.

The Cardinals come into the game allowing 5.01 yards per carry, which ranks No. 110 nationally. That’s terrible for a team whose No. 1 goal is to stop the run. Eastern Kentucky averaged almost four yards per carry against the Cardinals.

FSU football has gotten away from their run game since the season opener against Notre Dame, but still has one of the better rushing attacks in the nation.

The Noles average 4.87 yards per carry which rank No. 40 nationally and that’s with almost none of the production coming from Jordan Travis. I like FSU’s chances of running the ball against the Cardinals, which should open up some passing lanes for McKenzie Milton, provided he starts the game.

I think we could see some early success on the ground with Milton finding some success behind the linebackers as they cheat up to crowd the line of scrimmage.

It’s something Ole Miss exploited a ton in their season opener. The question is can the wide receivers get open and make plays?
