FSU football put the college football world on notice with their overtime loss against top 10 Notre Dame. The Noles went into the contest as a touchdown underdog on their home turf, and a few costly mistakes cost them the opportunity to pull off a major upset.

Of course, the Noles lost the game by three points in overtime, but three FSU turnovers turned into 21 points for the Fighting Irish. Aside from those mistakes, the other deciding factors were the 1-on-1 matchups in the game.

FSU coaches pride themselves in creating those types of matchups on offense. The offense is, Built For Playmakers, but of course, playmakers can play defense too.

Notre Dame was the more talented team overall Sunday night, but FSU hung right there with them. However, it was the 1-on-1 matchups that ultimately decided the game in favor of the Fighting Irish.

The Noles had a 1-on-1 matchup they won when Ja’Khi Douglas burned the Notre Dame defensive back for a 60-yard touchdown. Jashaun Corbin ripped off an 89-yard run, but that was more of a team effort on one play.

However, Notre Dame had several 1-on-1 matchups that resulted in touchdowns. The question is, does FSU have enough playmakers to exceed expectations on the remaining schedule?
