FSU football: Recruits/commits react to Notre Dame game
By Kelvin Hunt
I wrote about it weeks ago, FSU football coachings planning to have nearly 100 recruits at the Notre Dame game was a huge gamble.
If the Noles got blown out and showed no improvement on the field it could spell disaster. If the Noles played well, showed improvement, or won the game?
The Noles did the former two and had one of the best things possible to happen, even in a loss.
FSU recruits and commits experienced one of the best atmospheres in college football and watched a Mike Norvell team do what he’s been preaching to them.
Mike Norvell’s football team played with a ton of heart, didn’t quit, and took a team with a top 10 ranking to the brink in overtime.
The recruits in attendance took notice.
Player Reactions
Thoughts
There were way more reactions, but I wanted to provide a snapshot of the recruiting targets and commits thoughts after the game. I have to give a lot of credit to the FSU football fans for showing up and showing out during the entire game.
It would have been easy to stop supporting after the fourth down blunder resulted in another touchdown in the third quarter. However, the FSU fans kept Warchanting and fighting just as the players on the field were in real-time.
That’s an atmosphere recruit want to play in, and the fans and players helped deliver that in spades. There were no public commits, but 247’s Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball prediction for five-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. after the game.
Coleman ranks as the No. 22 player nationally and No. 3 wide receiver. If you watched any of the game Sunday night, it’s clear the Noles need help in that department.
I expect the Notre Dame performance to go a long way in helping Mike Norvell solidify a top 10 class unless injuries mount and they resort back to looking terrible on the field again.
