The FSU football program is 21-26 since 2017 and only won three games in 2020. The FSU roster has talent but isn’t anywhere near as talented as the prime FSU teams.

However, the logo must hold weight since the Noles received ONE vote in Preseason Coaches’ Poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The usual suspects were at the top of the list.

It’s a preseason poll, and it doesn’t mean much since no games have been played yet. There are some teams ranked that have no business that high on the list.

Why is Texas A&M ranked No. 6 when they barely beat a depleted North Carolina team in their bowl game last year. Why is Notre Dame ranked No. 7 when they lost a ton from last year’s team.

The same goes for Florida, and Oregon was 4-2 last season and beat an overrated USC team.

Miami didn’t beat anyone of note last season. Man, I know last year was a weird year COVID, but some of these rankings make no sense.

Final Thoughts

One final note regarding this list not making a whole lot of sense. FSU football received ONE vote in the others receiving votes area. I know FSU managed to upset No. 5 North Carolina last year, but who gave them one vote?

I’ve said it several times, I expect FSU to improve last year, but they have to show it on the field before rewarding them with votes. That’s why I have a problem with preseason polls, as it becomes a vote for the most well-known program.

Heck, FSU football finished 12-2 at the end of the 2012 season and entered the 2013 season at No. 12 in the preseason coaches’ poll. That team went on to become the best team in college football history.

I know it gives folks something to talk about, but I wish they would do away with preseason polls and not rank teams until after a couple of weeks in the season. Those rankings would reflect a much more accurate ranking than what we have nowadays.
