Meiko Dotson

One of the areas on the team with the most depth is at defensive back, but the loss of Asante Samuel Jr. to the NFL will be a large hole to fill.

However, defensive backs coach Marcus Woodson has mentioned they’ll use a lot of players depending on the situation.

One player that showed promise in limited action last season was FAU transfer, Meiko Dotson. Dotson played in three games last season, but his best performances were against Notre Dame and North Carolina.

Those teams featured two quarterbacks who are on NFL teams and some good wide receivers with size. Dotson allowed some completions but was usually in the right position to make a play.

The plays he gave up were those that are not going to be completed regularly.

Dotson can play the field or boundary cornerback positions and could play the nickel position too.

He brings a ton of experience to the secondary, which will be needed with the departure of Samuels Jr. and Hamsah Nasirildeen. Here’s to hoping he can stay healthy in his final season of college football.
