FSU football has most of its 2022 recruiting class filled but is still evaluating talent. The Noles have 15 commitments with about 10 spots left in the class.

One area that remains fluid is the wide receiver position. The Noles have one commitment in three-star South Florida native Davaughn Mortimer, and they’ll be looking to add around two more receivers in the class.

Most of their recruiting targets are established, but the coaching staff added a new name to the list Wednesday afternoon.

Three-star athlete Jordan Anthony received an offer from the Noles and announced the news on his Twitter account:

Jordan Anthony ranks as the No. 560 player and No. 49 athlete nationally. He ranks as the No. 14 player in Mississippi.

Anthony checks in at 5’11” and 160 pounds with 22 offers from schools like FSU, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Boston College, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and some smaller schools.

I think FSU offered him as a wide receiver since they already have two defensive backs committed and will likely only take one more.

Jordan Anthony visited Ole Miss twice in early June and officially visited Syracuse on June 25 when they offered him.

One thing of note is he has blazing speed, breaking the Mississippi high school 100-meter record with a time of 10.32 in May. He ran a 10.21 time with wind assistance of 1.9 mph on July 3rd.

For perspective, that’s two-tenths of a second faster than FSU speedster Corey Wrenn’s personal best out of high school. Anthony appeared in 10 games as a sophomore with 17 receptions for 342 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 109 yards on 13 carries with one touchdown.

It’s an interesting offer at this point for the 2022 recruiting class. He doesn’t have a ton of production, but that speed can’t be taught. Could it be he was a player that slipped through the cracks? I’m not sure if this offer has anything to do with other recruiting targets, but we’ll see how it plays out.

Anthony set a decision date for July 27th after posting a top seven schools list. Will the FSU offer changes things?
