FSU football: Reaction to 4-star Trevion Williams committing to Noles
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football has a lot of momentum on the recruiting trails over multiple classes. The coaching staff has been ahead of the game with getting hundreds of quality players on campus since the recruiting dead period ended June 1.
Those small victories are beginning to pay dividends as some players are getting closer to making their commitment decisions.
One of those players set Twitter on fire late Friday night when news of his commitment hit the timeline.
Four-star defensive lineman Trevion Williams announced his commitment to the Noles while on an official visit:
Trevion Williams ranks as the No. 224 player nationally and No. 31 defensive lineman. Williams checks in at 6’4″ and 250 pounds with offers from Ole Miss, Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and others.
247 Crystal Ball predictions for Mississippi State and Ole Miss had been cast for Williams, the Mississippi State prediction came less than two weeks ago.
However, one prediction snuck in for FSU football about an hour before Williams announced for FSU.
Trevion Williams is the 10th player to commit to FSU football in the 2022 recruiting class. The addition helps the Noles climb to No. 8 in the national rankings.
Williams lists as a linebacker but will likely be a defensive end for the Noles. Williams visited the Noles earlier this month and offered after seeing Williams work out.
FSU football has not had a legitimate pass rusher since Brian Burns left the program after the 2018 season as a first-round draft pick. The staff brought in some young pass rushers in the 2021 class who’ll need time to develop. However, Williams is the type of player who will be physically ready to play when he arrives on campus.
There are several other targets on campus for official visits this weekend. Could this be the first of a couple of commits for the good guys?
