Mike Norvell and the FSU football coaching staff know how to be creative to create momentum on the recruiting trails.

The movement we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks has been nothing short of amazing considering how last year went, and it was during the NCAA recruiting dead period.

That came to an end at midnight, and the doors of the Moore Center opened at 12:01 Monday morning to host some of the top recruits in the nation.

A lot of FSU football fans are too set on gauging the success of the event on whether players committed or not.

That’s not the case. It’s the first time several of these players have met the coaching staff face-to-face. They are also national recruits and will likely take visits to other places since they haven’t been able to do that over the past 15 months.

If they committed and took visits elsewhere, then we’d have to listen to fans whine and complain about it.

The point of meeting these recruits(and some commits that haven’t met the staff in person before) is to continue developing those relationships. However, it’s also about sustaining momentum by getting those players back on campus at a later date for official visits.

I think the Midnight Madness event was a brilliant move, and here’s why it should help sustain momentum through the entire month.
