FSU football: Travis Hunter Jr. hints at another 2022 blue-chip commitment
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches know the next few months will be important for recruiting. The NCAA dead period will end June 1st, and recruits will flock to Tallahassee to see what the coaching staff is all about.
However, the coaches have done a great job of getting the current commits involved in recruiting for the program. One of the most effective is five-star commit Travis Hunter Jr.
Hunter Jr. has been one of the more vocal commits that I can recall for FSU in recent history. He’s the No. 3 ranked player overall in the 247 Composite Rankings.
I’d argue he is THE No. 1 player in the nation. Hunter Jr. has had a hand in several players committing to the Noles, and hinted there is another blue-chip commitment on the way Sunday afternoon via his Twitter account:
I know Hunter Jr. is recruiting several players to join him in Tallahassee. Who could he be referring to in the tweet? My guess is he’s referring to top 100 player and four-star tight end/WR Jaleel Skinner.
Skinner released his top 10 list of schools a week ago, which included the Noles. As you can see, Skinner is out at the QB Retreat in California with Hunter Jr. and another five-star FSU commit, Sam McCall.
FSU blue-chip quarterback commit AJ Duffy was also at the event. That’s three top 100 players committed to the Noles working on getting another top 100 player to commit to the good guys.
If Skinner eventually commits to the Noles, it would be a massive addition to the class. We’re talking about the No. 3 player in South Carolina choosing FSU football over Clemson and others.
He’d also fit a huge position of need and give the Noles great contrast to some of the other 2022 wide receiver targets.
I asked if the Noles could maintain the No. 1 spot in the ACC recruiting rankings Sunday. It’ll be tough, but continuing to land top 100 players would make that much more realistic than not.
