FSU baseball (18-14, 13-11 ACC) lost its last outing against Boston College and wasted a chance to sweep the series.

The Noles travel to Georgia Tech (18-14, 14-10 ACC) for a three-game series beginning Friday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

It’s a series between two teams with nearly identical overall and conference records.

Georgia Tech batters are hitting .287 with an on-base percentage of .379 and have slugged 35 home runs, nine triples, and 73 doubles.

Georgia Tech pitchers will enter the contest with a 5.37 ERA, with opposing teams batting .268, with 286 strikeouts and 157 walks in 283 innings. They have allowed 31 home runs.

Defensively, Georgia Tech has 45 errors in 32 games for a fielding percentage of .961.

FSU pitchers enter the contest with a 3.14 ERA, with opposing teams batting .214, with 385 strikeouts and 120 walks in 292.1 innings.

FSU batters are hitting .236 with an on-base percentage of .355 and have 46 home runs, two triples, and 45 doubles.

Defensively, FSU has 39 errors in 32 games for a fielding percentage of .967.

Key To Victory

It’s no secret the FSU offense struggles aside from like three or four hitters. The Noles have to find a way to score runs and take some pressure off the FSU pitchers. Georgia Tech pitchers allow a lot of walks and home runs.

The Georgia Tech defense is worse than the Noles and will kick it around like the Bad News Bears at times. The Noles have to cut down on the strikeouts at the plate and take advantage of these tendencies.

FSU pitchers need to continue doing what they’ve been doing for the most part. They need to stay ahead of the hitters and avoid walks, and hopefully, the FSU defense will show up and make the routine plays.

It’s a series the Noles need to win to improve their chances of post-season play, especially with games their next conference games coming against league-leading Notre Dame. The game will air on the ACC Network Extra or stream on ESPN3 if you have a cable provider.
