FSU baseball (18-13, 13-10, ACC) will have the opportunity to sweep Boston College with a win Sunday.

The Noles took care of business with a 5-1 win to clinch the series Saturday. The first two games of the series have gone as I expected.

I felt the FSU pitchers would be able to keep the Boston College offense in check, and it would be up to the FSU offense to take advantage of the Boston College pitchers.

I indicated how Boston College pitchers give up a lot of walks, and opposing batters were batting over .300 against them.

That’s the just of what we’ve seen through two games.

Their pitchers walked 11 FSU batters and allowed 16 hits (seven extra-base) over the first two games.

The Noles have only swept one ACC series this season(Miami) and will turn to veteran Conor Grady Sunday.

Grady has been one of the most dependable pitchers for the Noles with a 4-1 record and 3.60 ERA.

The key for FSU baseball will be the offense taking advantage of the lack of dominant arms from the Boston College staff.

The top half of the FSU offense has been the catalyst as usual, with Matheu Nelson, Tyler Martin, and Robby Martin the most dependable batters in the series.

Right-handed pitcher Alex Steigler usually takes the mound on Sundays for Boston College, and he’ll bring a 5.54 ERA into Sunday’s game. Opposing batters are hitting .327, and he only has eight walks in 39 innings.

That means he’ll be around the plate, and FSU batters should take advantage early in the count.

Sunday’s game is the type they need to capitalize on because they’ve lost too many games they should have won this season.

The first pitch will take place at 1 p.m. ET, with the game airing on the ACC Network Extra (or ESPN3 if you have a cable provider).
