Mentality

This segment should arguably be number one, but there’s no way to know how this will shake out until the team plays real games.

The Noles have been a front-running program for a long time. If things are going well, they look like a team that belongs but cracks under the first hint of adversity or pressure.

We saw it time and time again the past couple of years. FSU would be playing well, and one could point to a key moment in the game and know things were about to go downhill.

It would be like an unstoppable force. The Miami game in 2018. Boise State and Louisiana-Monroe games in 2019, Georgia Tech, UNC, and Duke games in 2020.

Granted, the Noles held on to win the UNC game and found a way to turn the tide back in their favor to route the Blue Devils in the season finale.

Was that a sign of things to come under Mike Norvell? A team that embraces adversity and responds well when things don’t go their way?

It sounds like the team made some progress in that area over spring camp. The coaches can create all of the scenarios they want at practice, but will the correct response take place in the actual games?
