It seems to have been a bad day overall. Coach Norvell criticized the team pretty heavily. He made a point in saying that he “expected better,” and that you could tell that the team had a lot of time off.

Still, progress is being made overall but not up to the standard of the coaching staff. They have better fundamentals overall and are much more physical than this past year.

Baveon Johnson, Mieko Dotson, and Jordan Wilson were all active at varying levels on Tuesday. There are more not named, but it was probably one of the more healthy days of spring. The team is still thin at a couple of spots, but it is getting better and building up continuity.

“It has been a blessing in disguise for me and it’s awesome to be back out there. I’m feeling good so I am excited for this upcoming season,” said Wilson of his injury.

I think he will help this team immediately once he is full go. Several analysts have talked about how he allows Camren McDonald to flex out wide, which is going to be great for the team.

I think Wilson poses a matchup problem because he is deceptively athletic and can help make splash plays in play-action. I am most optimistic about how much Wilson can help along the offensive line and can help the young tackles out.

Speaking of the devil, the offensive line as a whole has improved through most of the spring. They still have trouble responding to adversity, but Coach Atkins says it takes them longer to get to that breaking point than before.

The center position in specific is getting a lot of attention as depth continues to need development. Both Zane Herring and Bryson Estes have seen snaps at center, with Thomas Shrader out with an injury.

It hasn’t all been bad along the offensive line. Coach Atkins said that they are working hard as coaches to develop reliable depth, so they aren’t caught in non-advantageous positions should they face similar injury troubles in the fall.

Darius Washington has had a good spring thus far and emerged as a leader on and off the field.
