If you’ve read any of my work, you know I will die on the hill of 2013 FSU football being the greatest college football team of all time.

I’ve written about why in so many different ways it’s not funny. I’ve compared them to 2019 LSU, 2018 Clemson.

2001 Miami has gotten the same medicine in Twitter debates  as well. However, I think the quarterback of that 2013 FSU title winner, Jameis Winston, provided some of the best reasoning why that team deserves more respect than any other team.

Check out the clip below from former FSU cornerback Bryant McFadden’s All Things Covered Podcast:

Jameis Winston is correct that FSU was the only team lining up in a prostyle offense and decimating teams by halftime. The FSU defense was dominant, and every starter on that team went on to play in the NFL.

It’s funny the narrative the media attempted to push regarding FSU and the ACC back then was hilarious. Who can forget the clown guy that posted strength of schedule matters, only for FSU to roar back and destroy Auburn in the second half?

Many people still don’t realize Auburn had FSU’s offensive signals for the entire first half and still couldn’t win the game. What about the 2019 LSU team that was so prolific, needing an extra game to break the 2013 FSU’s team’s record for points scored in a season?

They broke that record by THREE points and played an extra game. That 2013 FSU football team was elite in every facet, offense, defense, and special teams. All of those facets showed up in that national title game as well.

The offense averaged over eight yards per play in the second half. The defense put the clamps on Gus Malzahn’s offense in the second half. FSU special teams executed a fake punt, leading to their first touchdown, and they had a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Come on, what more do people want? That’s the greatest college football team of all times.
