Scottie Barnes

Scottie Barnes has had an impressive freshman season at FSU. He won the ACC Freshman of the Year, ACC Sixth Man Award, and was named All-ACC Freshman team.

As I mentioned, Barnes plays point guard when coming off the bench, and at 6’9″ with crazy athleticism, he’s a problem for most teams.

Barnes has great vision but also forces a lot of things that lead to turnovers, something the Noles have struggled with over the last five games.

They have 91 in that span, with Barnes accounting for 19 of them. Barnes is still evolving and probably would benefit from coming back to FSU basketball another year for his game to mature even though he’s a projected lottery pick.

It’s weird at times, Barnes chooses moments to use his ability to take over and assert himself, and other times he will defer.

Barnes posting up Jose Alvarado when he had a huge height and weight advantage and randomly passing the ball away in the Georgia Tech game is an example of the latter.

FSU needs consistency from him and to cut down on the turnovers if they plan to make a run in the NCAA Tournament.
