FSU football has its first spring practice in the books. It’s been a long time since the Duke game to end the 2020 season, and coaches and players have been waiting for this day after weeks and weeks of strength and conditioning.

FSU head coach Mike Norvell and offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham provided their thoughts on the practice.

A handful of players like Jordan Travis, Jashaun Corbin, and Amari Gainer spoke with the media after practice.

All of those videos are available below:

Thoughts

One of the biggest takeaways is how Mike Norvell was pleased with the first day of practice, along with the players have the right mindset and mentality. There’s competition at all positions, with newcomers from the transfer portal and freshmen early enrollees pushing everyone.

Jashaun Corbin received praise, who’s emerged as a leader in the offseason. Jermaine Johnson, Brandon Moore, and Jammie Robinson received praise from Mike Norvell as players that flashed at practice. Keyshawn Helton seems to be regaining form, and it was surprising he played last season, according to Norvell.

Jordan Travis spoke about the family atmosphere he feels now that he’s never felt otherwise.

The quarterback room is farther along compared to last year, with all of them have game experience under their belts. McKenzie Milton had nice control of the offense and made some plays. He also said he made some bad plays, which is to be expected in a new offense on the first day.

Offensive tackle Darius Washington received praise from Kenny Dillingham as someone who has made lots of strides in the offseason.

It seems like things are going well, and the coaches are happy with the progress the team has made thus far. Here’s to hoping they maximize every practice and stay with the same mentality they brought on the first day.
