There is a lot of excitement surrounding FSU football as they begin to transition to full spring practice next week.

Mike Norvell spoke with the media Friday as they were wrapping up spring conditioning workouts and shared a lot of information.

I wanted to share some highlights and thoughts as well. Norvell seemed excited about where the program is at the moment.

Here’s the full video below:

Key Takeaways

  • McKenzie Milton has fully participated in campus and is making a difference in every aspect.
  • All quarterbacks will be full-go but no-contact for the entire spring.
  • Ja’Khi Douglas will move to wide receiver.
  • Players from the transfer portal have been outstanding in every aspect.
  • The team has gone from no leaders last year to the leadership looking outstanding during the offseason program.
  • TE Jordan Wilson will be limited this spring.
  • The mindset of the players is different. They want to do the work and embrace it.
  • Norvell named running back Jashaun Corbin as someone that’s been a “star.”
  • Lots of guys have made big gains physically and strength-wise.
  • Norvell spoke about the importance of having a full 15 practices in the spring.
  • The freshmen early enrollees will make an impact and don’t look like freshmen.

Parting Thoughts

All of the sound bytes are great to hear. This program seems to be trending in the right direction in every aspect. It will all come down to the efficiency of spring, summer, and fall camps.

Also, hopefully, the injury bug can avoid Tallahassee at all costs.

The good news is Mike Norvell’s practices are similar to Jimbo Fisher in that players get a significant amount of reps. It is very little to no wasted time, and every rep will count if these players are serious about turning this program around.

One positive is there should less time used to acclimate themselves at spring practice since they did get three practices last season. Here’s to hoping they can maximize the opportunity and make significant strides in all three phases.
