FSU football: Noles offer 2023 IMG wide receiver Carnell Tate
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches have put in the work on the recruiting trails, and it’s beginning to pay off.
However, they’re still grinding amongst the success and seem to have zeroed in on making IMG Academy a priority.
IMG Academy routinely churns out blue-chip players, and the Noles have always had a presence there, but FSU coaches have turned the heat up there as of late.
They signed four-star Malik McClain in the 2021 recruiting cycle and have several IMG targets in the 2022 and 2023 classes.
The latest is wide receiver Carnell Tate, who FSU offered Monday night: He announced the news via his Twitter account:
Tate doesn’t have a composite ranking, but 247 Sports has him listed as the No. 58 player overall, No. 6 wide receiver, and the No. 14 player in Illinois(where he’s from originally).
Tate checks in at 6’2″ and 180 pounds with 14 offers from places like FSU, Georgia, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan State, and others.
Notre Dame holds the lone 247 Crystal Ball Prediction cast in September 2020.
2022 FSU QB target AJ Duffy was excited to see the offer. The important note is Duffy transferred to IMG Academy to play his senior year. A lot of the credit has to go to FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham who’s worked tirelessly to establish relationships with the coaches and players.
FSU’s 2023 recruiting class is off to a hot start with three commitments total, and two of those three coming last month.
Players from the midwest who attend IMG usually go closer to home to play their college ball. Could Tate buck the trend and stay in the Sunshine state? It’s too early to tell, but if the Noles land AJ Duffy in a few weeks, that can’t hurt their chances at all.
