FSU football: Noles make top 4 of 2022 blue-chip QB AJ Duffy
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football coaches are looking to add the best players possible, to get the program back to where it’s supposed to be. The quarterback position is the most important position Mike Norvell needs to fill each year.
The Noles already have a commitment from blue-chip a quarterback in Nicco Marchiol who has had a long-standing relationship with Mike Norvell and Kenny Dillingham.
However, the Noles are looking to build competition at every position with quality players. One of the highest-rated quarterbacks in the 2022 class is still interested in the Noles.
Blue-chip quarterback AJ Duffy listed the Noles in his top four on Twitter Saturday night:
Duffy is originally from California but has transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. That high school is the former home of 2021 WR signee Malik McClain. Duffy has 35 offers from teams like FSU, Arizona State, Miami, Oregon, Penn State, Michigan State, Boston College, BYU, LSU, NC State, Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Nebraska, Ole Miss, USC, and others.
He checks in at 6’2″ and 203 pounds and is considered the No. 103 ranked player nationally, No. 5 pro-style QB, and the No. 13 player in Florida.
Duffy was offered by the Willie Taggart staff in 2019 but has known FSU offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham for some time.
A ton of Arizona State crystal balls came in for Duffy over the past few weeks, and Oregon received one in 2019. However, Arizona State didn’t make the cut for his final four schools.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens if AJ Duffy decides to commit to the Noles. Would Marchiol welcome the competition? If so, it would be the first time FSU had two blue-chip quarterbacks committed since forever.
The 2022 recruiting class already has five quality commits, but the addition of Duffy would take this class to another level for Mike Norvell and staff.
