Defensive Line

This unit was the one I was most disappointed in last season.  The experience and talent returning had many pegging this unit as top five in the country.

I know we all love Odell Haggins, and he has done great things for this university as a player and as a coach. However, the defensive line play over the past few seasons has not been up to par.

I believe a small portion of it involves having three different defensive coordinators in that span. However, the defensive line has had a litany of blue-chip players that have not lived up to their recruiting ranking.

Not to mention, FSU football hasn’t brought in a blue-chip defensive tackle since the 2018 recruiting cycle.

This unit has not been great against the run and failed to pressure the quarterback since the 2017 season.

This unit lost Joshua Kaindoh, Marvin Wilson, and Janarius Robinson but return former blue-chip players Robert Cooper, Dennis Briggs, and Fabien Lovett.

The lack of pass rush saw the coaches go to the transfer portal for players that could provide immediate help.
