Wide Receiver

I know some FSU football fans expected to see the offensive line at No. 1. However, that unit improved last season with the help of Jordan Travis’s ability to extend plays.

The wide receiver unit? Man, they have been abysmal the past couple of years outside of Tamorrion Terry, who’s no longer with the program.

The leading receiver from last season is Ontaria Wilson, and he’s been subject to injury the last two years. Keyshawn Helton suffered a season-ending injury in 2019 and didn’t look like himself in 2020 with way lower production while playing in three more games.

There are players like Jordan Young who need to produce or risk getting surpassed by younger players. Bryan Robinson, Kentron Poitier, and Corey Wren may finally emerge after getting last year under their belts.

FSU coaches addressed the position well in the last recruiting cycle, bringing in three talented receivers with one transfer waiting to join the team this summer.

The FSU passing attack lacked in every area last year. The receiver struggled to get open on a short route, deep routes, and there were no intermediate routes because of QB limitations for the most part.

The entire unit needs an attitude overhaul from a go-out and make a play standpoint. The Louisville game was a prime example last season, as all of the receivers lost every bit of confidence possible.

Hopefully, that will change with McKenzie Milton joining the team and making the quarterback unit better. It better, or Mike Norvell’s offense will continue to struggle with consistency.
