Keyshawn Helton

Keyshawn Helton was in a position to make a name for himself as the lowest-rated recruit in the 2018 recruiting class.

Helton surprised most FSU fans with his production as a freshman in the 2018 season. He appeared in 11 games and had 11 receptions for 176 yards and one touchdown.

Helton was also productive on special teams as the kickoff returner.

The expectations for the Pensacola product increased in 2019, and he was up for the challenge.

Helton had 17 receptions for 239 yards and three touchdowns through six games and averaged 28 yards per return on kickoffs before an injury cost him the rest of the season.

The 2020 season started well with Helton catching a touchdown pass from James Blackman in the season opener. However, he never seemed to regain his pre-injury 2019 form and finished the year with 14 receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns in nine games, while continuing to chip in on special teams.

It’s now or never for Helton in 2021. He brings a ton of experience and toughness to the wide receiver group and bleeds garnet and gold. However, the coaching staff needs production from him this year.

The wide receiver unit will be young and inexperienced, but the coaching staff did a great job bringing in some talented players in the 2021 recruiting class. Can Helton be productive and hold them off?
