Cam Akers carries LA Rams to playoff victory over Seattle Seahawks

Cam Akers continues to play well in his rookie season.
Former FSU running back standout Cam Akers has solidified himself as the future with the LA Rams.
The rookie running back finished the NFL regular season with four consecutive games with 15 or more carries while amassing 625 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 13 games. Akers also had 11 receptions for 123 yards and one touchdown on the season.
His emergence continued in his first playoff game as he helped carry the LA Rams offense with their passing game struggling with an injured Jared Goff taking over for an injured John Wolford.
Akers had 46 rushing yards in the first quarter and finished the game with 28 carries for 131 rushing yards and one touchdown after pulling himself out of the game after a tough hit about halfway through the fourth quarter.
Akers was a factor in the passing game with two receptions for 45 yards as well. At one point, Akers accounted for 122 of the Rams 196 total yards in the game before a late touchdown put the game away with five minutes left.
Akers saw most of his success running between the tackles and was able to break multiple tackles during the game. He showed explosion, the ability to hit cutback lanes, and made linebackers miss at the second level of the defense.
I’m sure he’ll continue to be a big part of the Rams offense moving forward, and that organization has to feel they got a steal with him as a second-round draft pick. Fantasy owners have to be pleased as well since most of them picked him up late in the season.
The Rams will play the winner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Washington Football team game that will take place in the primetime slot Saturday night.
