FSU Football: Top 5 Noles that stood out in 2020 season
By Cole Maines
Lawrence Toafili
Again I’m cheating. I’m just picking the best performer out of a group that excelled, the youth on the team.
Toafili, a true freshman from St. Petersburg, wasn’t expected to be a major contributor. It was said that he needed time to get into college football shape. However, due to injuries and attrition, he saw a greater role as the season wore on although he dealt with some injuries himself.
Toafili totaled 37 carries for 356 yards. His 9.6 yards-per-rush leads all FBS freshman. He also had 12 receptions for 120 yards.
The two touchdowns are a little disappointing but in what was a limited year, it is a good benchmark for what ought to be expected from the former blue-chip recruit.
This offseason will be vital for his development as he will be able to spend it getting bigger and preparing to make a big jump in year two to withstand the wear and tear of more a bigger workload.
