Defensive End

The coaching staff has already addressed one of these needs with Jermaine Johnson, but Joshua Kaindoh declaring for the NFL Draft opens up another need at the defensive end.

The Noles have some youth at the position in Derrick McClendon, Joshua Griffis, and Quashon Fuller. However, none of them seem ready to take on a starting role.

None of those guys managed a sack or a QB hurry in their time on the field in 2020. McClendon played in all nine games, Griffis played in seven, and Fuller played in four.

FSU needs someone who can come in and play immediately, to allow these young men to continue to develop.

The Noles only had 10 sacks in nine games and 18 QB hurries. The lack of a pass rush is one of the main reasons the FSU defense is as bad as it was in 2020.

A pass rush helps the secondary and the linebackers in coverage, and that hasn’t been the case since Brian Burns was on the team in 2018.
