Transfer Portal Success

The coaching staff’s success in the transfer portal in the 2020 recruiting cycle has prevented things from being worse.

Imagine this:

What if they hadn’t secured Devontay Love-Taylor, Jashaun Corbin, Fabien Lovett, or gotten La’Damian Webb from the JUCO ranks?

Transfer defensive back Jarrian Jones has played a lot of snaps, and Jordan Wilson was expected to be a contributor at tight end before he was lost for the season due to injury before the season started.

Transfer defensive back Meiko Dotson played when he was healthy.

Love-Taylor was the best offensive lineman they had before he was lost for the season due to injury. Corbin has been dependable, and Webb has been the best running back on the roster.

I spoke about the importance of adding Fabien Lovett in the offseason. His presence helps alleviate things now that Marvin Wilson and Corey Durden are not on the field, and should be an important player in 2021.

The key takeaway here is the staff wasted little time evaluating the roster and addressing them in the transfer portal. I expect that to take place even more in the 2021 recruiting class.
