Notre Dame Rust

The Fighting Irish not playing for three weeks could have them going into this game a bit rusty. We saw them get off to a slow start in the season opener against Duke.

That game saw Notre Dame take a 17-13 lead into the fourth quarter before pulling away with a touchdown and field goal in the final frame.

If the Fighting Irish began the game shaky, maybe the Noles can capture some early confidence and take advantage of that?

It’s something they’ve struggled to do against quality teams. The game seemed to be over against Miami after the first quarter, and the same can be said for the Jacksonville State game.

However, I think some of that was the team not having any confidence in the quarterback play. If Jordan Travis plays well, I think we’ll see a better effort in all three phases for the Noles.

I don’t think it’ll be enough to get the win, but anything can happen when a team catches momentum and gains confidence. Remember, Clemson should have lost to Syracuse and North Carolina over the past two seasons.
