FSU football: Grading ‘Noles performance goals against Jacksonville St.
By Kelvin Hunt
Offense
FSU football fans had been calling for Mike Norvell to replace James Blackman as the starter and got what they wished.
However, a lot of those same fans were complaining and wanting the coaches to put Blackman back in the game after it became clear Tate Rodemaker wasn’t quite ready to seize the moment.
Mike Norvell instead went with Jordan Travis, which completly changed the FSU offense. Travis has played in every game in different packages, showing he is capable of moving the chains with his legs.
However, his passing game has been limited, but he showed some flashes of what the Mike Norvell offense looks like when running efficiently.
It is deadly. I know it was against an FCS opponent, but FSU scored at will, breaking off big runs and some explosive passes downfield. They reached the goal of 35 points, scoring 41 points, and that was with a missed field goal and missed extra point.
Travis should be the starter moving forward and gave FSU football fans an idea of what the offense will look like with competent quarterback play.
