FSU football: Top 5 things to look out for in Miami game
By Kelvin Hunt
How Will FSU Respond?
This area is the thing I’m most concerned with following the performance against Georgia Tech. It’s like the players are in a perpetual motion of folding when adversity stands before them.
There were plays to be made against Georgia Tech, and it was like the fight left those players when those plays didn’t come to fruition.
It was obvious to the Georgia Tech players, and you could sense their confidence growing and their body language changing.
If that happens with Georgia Tech, how do you think Miami players are going to react?
What’s it going to take for FSU players to overcome things when they don’t go their way? How will they respond if Miami comes out and scores on their first possession?
How will they respond if the offense goes out and turns the ball over early in the game?
At some point, they are going to have to absorb getting punched in the mouth and go on the offensive instead of looking to cower in the corner somewhere.
The Noles need the mindset of striking first and setting the tone for the rest of the game. There can’t be any getting up two touchdowns and looking to coast and relax in the second half.
It’s going to be a process, especially offensively, with the Noles missing so much of spring camp while trying to install a new offense. However, the tone can be set on special teams and defense, and that’s something I’m looking to see on Saturday afternoon.
