Miami’s Offense Isn’t THAT Great

I know FSU football(and probably some Miami fans) are reading this thinking they just put up 47 points and averaged 8.08 yards per play.

However, I think that says more about Louisville’s lack of defense than Miami’s offense. Miami had two scoring plays of 75 yards, and another for 47 yards where Louisville’s defense simply fell asleep at the wheel with a busted coverage or just doing something dumb.

I’m not great at math, but 40.6 percent of their total yards came on those three plays. Now, I have to give Miami credit for taking advantage of Louisville’s deficiencies.

However, if you take those three plays away, Miami only averaged 5.2 yards per play.

Louisville’s defense was able to force Miami to settle for four field goals, three of them for 40-yards or more.

I must say Miami’s field goal kicker has a cannon in his foot as he made one from 57 yards with room to spare.  FSU’s defense was solid in the red zone and did well in that position against Georgia Tech in their opener. If they can limit Miami to mostly field goals, that’s a win for the defense.
