Asante Samuel Jr.

The FSU football player that made his presence felt the most was junior cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.

He had one interception in 2019 and doubled that number in the first half against Georgia Tech.

The first interception below led to the Nole’s only touchdown of the game. The frustrating part is he could have run the interception back for a touchdown had he went wider, and not assumed Jarrian Jones was going to block the Georgia Tech offensive lineman.

I think Jones felt he was going to go wider too and that’s why he didn’t attempt to make the block.

More importantly, both of Samuel’s interceptions took place with Georgia Tech marching on FSU’s side of the field. The second one took place with Georgia Tech in the red zone, so Samuel Jr. effectively took probably points off the board for the Yellow Jackets.
