FSU football head coach Mike Norvell has been hoping to see his offense turn the corner the past week or so. He seems pleased with the progress thus far.

FSU football head coach Mike Norvell has seemed overly pleased with his football program since the beginning of fall camp.

They have completed just over two weeks of practice, and there was only one day where he felt the need to challenge his team due to lack of intensity and focus.

The defense has dominated fall camp, which is par for the course most of the time, but there seem to be glimpses of life from the offense.

Norvell said the coaches took 12 plays from the second scrimmage Saturday and showed it to the offense and just how close they were to execute the play. One block here, or there and the play would have gone for big yardage.

That session must have worked because Norvell said he felt as though the offense was “continuing to respond” and he “likes what he’s seeing” from that unit after Wednesday’s practice:

Thoughts

I said after Saturday’s scrimmage, Mike Norvell didn’t seem overly concerned with the defense dominating things. I chalk that up to a couple of things. The defense is good, and the offense is still working, trying to figure out what they are good at since they’ve had limited practices.

They are also holding out some upperclassmen and allowing the younger players an opportunity to show what they can do. That’s where some of the inconsistency comes from along finding the right combination along the offensive line.

I think they’re close to figuring out who will be where, which is why Norvell mentioned they would start gearing up for Georgia Tech soon.

Norvell seems to be more candid than most coaches and understands he can’t set the bar too high because they are a work in progress. However, if he believes they are close, then that should give FSU football fans confidence moving forward.
