Defense

Mike Norvell called the defense “dominant” and said outside of a few plays the offense couldn’t establish any rhythm.

The defense controlled the line of scrimmage and did a great job of creating negative plays, and putting the offense is negative yardage situations.

According to Mike Norvell, he’s sure the defensive line will perform well, especially the interior guys like Marvin Wilson, Robert Cooper, and mentioned transfer Fabien Lovett.

He’s excited about the depth they have at defensive tackle.

It sounds like Joshua Kaindoh had another good scrimmage, and there could be some depth building at the defensive end position. Deonte Williams, Josh Griffis, and Derrick McClendon were names that came up from Saturday’s scrimmage too.

Norvell consistently names Emmett Rice and Leonard Warner when it comes to talking about the linebackers, but he also makes it clear the younger players are competing for playing time too.

FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller said he felt the communication between the coaches and the general pursuit of the players improved compared to the first scrimmage. I continue to say it, but this defense will be the strength of this year’s team.
