FSU football got back to work Monday after Saturday’s scrimmage. It appears Mike Norvell was not happy with how things went.

FSU football head coach Mike Norvell has seemed pleased with how his team has performed during fall camp.

One of the first things he has communicated after each practice is the team had good energy or something along those lines.

That wasn’t the case Monday morning as Norvell was critical of the team, particularly the offense with how they approached Monday’s practice.

Norvell said, “this team needs to challenge itself..we come out to work, and we get limited opportunities, and I didn’t think today was to the intensity of what is needed for us to play at the caliber that I think we are capable of playing.”

Norvell’s interview can be seen below:

Thoughts

FSU football fans that have been following the program over the last decade may have noticed a pattern regarding fall camp.

Former head coaching Jimbo Fisher was notorious for praising the team, naming players that were standing out, etc. Then all of a sudden, he’s speaking to the media after practice, and it was like the world ended. He’s mention how nobody could do anything right, how the intensity was missing, how they couldn’t beat anyone if they played that way, etc.

Well, we’ve reached that point with Mike Norvell. I’m not saying it’s a ploy of any type, but Mike Norvell is issuing a challenge to this team. He’s not going to settle for mediocrity, and they’re going to have to bring the intensity to practice every single day.

Norvell also provided updates on a couple of injuries with transfer tight end Jordan Wilson being out for the remainder of the year.

True freshman Chubba Purdy will be out for a couple of weeks with an undisclosed injury.

It appears the injury took place during Saturday’s scrimmage, with the freshmen quarterbacks playing live(allowed to be tackled). It was unlikely anyway, but this injury decreases the probability of Purdy being named the starter exponentially.
