Quarterbacks

The Noles have four scholarship quarterbacks vying for the starting job with James Blackman remaining the leader in the clubhouse after week one.

Some FSU fans may think I’ve been banging the drum in support of Blackman being the starter. I’ll support whoever the coaches choose as the guy.

However, I do believe Blackman is better than most FSU football fans give him credit. He’s never going to be an NFL First Round Draft pick, but he’s a nice player when he believes in himself.

I believe the coaching staff is showing they are giving him a fair shake, unlike the previous staff.

One nice detail shared by both Norvell and Dillingham was the offense’s ability to communicate the plays efficiently during the scrimmage.

That’s a plus, and Dillingham mentioned the quarterbacks did a good job of getting rid of the ball and not absorbing too many negative plays so far.

Chubba Purdy and Jordan Travis offer something different from the threat of their legs, and I’m interested to see if Mike Norvell will implement anything to take advantage of that aspect?

There’s a long way to go, but if the offensive line can be serviceable, this offense may surprise some folks in 2020.
