North Carolina

North Carolina finished the 2019 season on a high note, defeating Temple in the Military Bowl. The Tarheels finished (7-6) with all of their losses coming by a touchdown or less.

They also had three wins that were by four points or less, so it was a team that lived on the edge with true freshman quarterback Sam Howell.

The Tarheels finished the season ranked No. 25 offensively, No. 44 defensively, and No. 74 on special teams.

They’ll likely have a better offense in 2020 with Howell having a season of experience under his belt. They’re well-coached on defense, but they are not the most talented bunch, especially in the trenches where it matters most.

Also, everyone touting how great they were offensively last season, they only scored 30+ points against three Power Five teams that were bowl eligible. One of those games went into six overtimes.

They’ll likely surpass seven wins in 2020 because the ACC Conference gave them five very winnable games. However, I don’t think they’ll be some juggernaut blowing teams away.
