FSU basketball head coach Leonard Hamilton has assembled his most high-profiled recruiting class in ‘Noles history with Jalen Warley’s commitment.

FSU basketball went into Sunday as the No. 1 recruiting class in the nation with four commits.

Three of those commits came in July, four-star shooting guard Matthew Cleveland, four-star center John Butler, and three-star transfer center Naheem McLeod.

Those players joined four-star shooting guard Bryce McGowens who committed in February. I wrote the Noles were trending for five-star combo guard Jalen Warley last week, and he made it official Sunday with his commitment to the Noles.

He announced via this Twitter account with the video below:

Warley’s considered the No. 23 player nationally, No. 3 combo-guard, No. 1 player in the state of Pennsylvania. He checks in at 6’4″ and 175 pounds with the ability to play point guard and shooting guard.

The Noles beat out the likes of Michigan, Memphis, Miami, Virginia, Lousiville, Maryland, Xavier, and Oregon, among others.

Here’s a look at the size and national ranking of each player in the class to make it No. 1 overall.

  • Jalen Warley: 6’4″ and 175 pounds (No. 23 overall)
  • Matthew Cleveland: 6’5″ and 190 pounds (No. 24 overall)
  • Bryce McGowens: 6’5″ and 165 pounds (No. 35 overall)
  • John Butler: 7’1″ and 190 pounds (No. 56 overall)
  • Naheem McLeod: 7’3″ and 230 pounds (No. 2 JUCO overall)

That’s an incredible recruiting class for any college basketball program, but especially for a school that’s known more like a football school.

However, Leonard Hamilton has done his share to change that perception the last 4-5 years, culminating in his first ACC regular-season title last season.

This class has it all, size, length, athleticism, and meets the needs in the program. FSU is the “New Blood” amongst the “Blue Bloods” now and will remain there as long as they keep recruiting like this.

Congrats to Jalen Warley on joining Nole Nation for what should be some exciting times for Nole basketball fans.
