FSU basketball is looking to bring in more talent in its 2021 recruiting class. Could Matthew Cleveland be the next piece to the puzzle?

FSU basketball is coming off its first regular-season ACC Conference title with some solid pieces returning to have a strong team in the coming season.

They also have some of the top freshmen in the country joining the team this fall and are in pursuit of more top players for its 2021 recruiting class.

One player the Noles have been high on is four-star shooting guard Matthew Cleveland from Alpharetta, Georgia.

He named a top five list of schools on June 29 which, included FSU, Kansas, Michigan, NC State, and Stanford.

He announced Sunday he’s ready to decide on his commitment Tuesday via his Twitter account:

Cleveland is considered the No. 24 player nationally, the No.3 shooting guard and the No. 2 player in the state of Georgia. Cleveland is a prime example of why Leonard Hamilton and staff have become one of the elite programs in the nation.

They were one of the first Power Five programs to offer Cleveland. He first visited in February 2019 and was offered in March 2019. The staff was able to get him to visit again in June 2019.

In contrast, of the other four schools listed in his top-five, Kansas and Michigan didn’t offer until February 2020 and June 2020 respectively. Stanford and NC State offered in June 2019 and September 2019.

The Noles have the lone 247 Crystal Ball Prediction which was posted Sunday. It would seem they would have the inside track as they offered early, got him on campus a couple of times, logistically not far from home, and have been among the best programs in the country the past few years.

As it stands right now, a commitment from Cleveland would push the Noles’ ranking to No. 4 nationally with only two commits.
