Handling Adversity

Man, Mike Norvell got himself into a pickle earlier this month when senior defensive tackle Marvin Wilson called him out on a quote he gave in an interview.

It was a mistake my Mike Norvell he openly admitted to and didn’t try to explain it away. He owned up to it and apologized which has seemed to bring the team closer together.

I don’t think he could have handled it any better other than just avoiding the mistake altogether. Will the mistake cost them on the recruiting trail? Some coaches may try to use it to negative recruit, but that situation was more about semantics than anything.

It’s nothing like what Dabo Swinney or others will have to deal with when it comes to what can be used against them.

The fact Norvell didn’t try to skirt around the issue and met it head-on will go a long way in defusing that situation if others try to bring it up.

The situation also allowed FSU football fans to see how Mike Norvell handles pressure in real-time. He responded swiftly and with a plan of how to handle the situation. That should bode well for how he responds to adversity when coaches in games too.
