2017 Season

The 2017 season got off to a rocky 1-3 start with losses to Alabama, NC State, and a heartbreaking loss to Miami at the end of the game.

It was clear Jimbo Fisher was trying to keep things simple for James Blackman while leaning on Cam Akers and Jacques Patrick in the running game.

The Noles finished 7-6 with several close games that could have gone either way. Losses to Miami and Louisville were games that could have easily won.

The same could be said for wins against Wake Forest, Duke, and Syracuse. However, as bad as that season was, it’s hard to fathom the Noles could have won nine games with a true freshman against such a tough schedule.

The Noles finished 2017 ranked No. 37 offensively while averaging 27.8 points per game. Ironically, that’s only .1 less than last year’s scoring average under Willie Taggart and Kendal Briles.

FSU has a couple of tough games in 2020, but should only be straight up underdogs in two of those games (Clemson and Florida). If the defense is as good as we think it’ll be, and I think it’ll be better than the 2017 version. I think starting a true freshman may not be as bad as some think.
