Recruiting

FSU football was always going to be behind the eight-ball when it came to the 2021 recruiting class.

I’ve written numerous times how they had to focus on finishing up the 2020 class while other top programs were already focused on the 2021 recruiting cycle and beyond.

The good news is this pandemic slowed the recruiting process down and helped level the playing field for the Noles, even the 2021 recruiting cycle.

I know you’re like huh? Yes, there are more recruits committed elsewhere more than ever before. However, the pandemic has prevented players from visiting schools they had planned to visit. That means it has given the coaching staff time to at least make contact and try to set up some visits once things go back to normal.

In terms of 2022 and beyond, the coaching staff has done a great job of getting offers out to respective recruits. FSU football has issued 158 offers for 2022 recruits and an additional 37 for 2023.

To provide perspective, Miami has offered 135 players for 2022 and an additional 35 for 2023. Florida has offered 140 players for 2022 and an additional 33 for 2023.

As long as the Noles can show progress on the field in 2020, they should have relationships in the future to be back among the elite in terms of recruiting.
