FSU football: Two 2021 commits react to seeing rankings bump

FSU football recruiting seems to have hit a lull compared to other programs regarding its 2021 recruiting class. However, two commits saw a rankings increase.

The 2021 FSU football recruiting class consists of five commits, one blue-chip player in FSU legacy linebacker Branden Jennings and four three-star players to round out the class.

I haven’t been caught up in all the 2021 rankings because it has been a weird year with no camps taking place allowing players to be further evaluated.

Recruiting rankings would rather rate a player lower in the beginning and improve the ranking as evaluations take place, as opposed to ranking them high and decreasing their ranking a great deal towards the end.

There are still a lot of players that haven’t been properly evaluated, but with the downtime, it looks like recruiting services are looking to evaluate more tape and update their rankings.

Two FSU commits saw rankings increase by ESPN’s recruiting service. Quarterback commit Luke Altmyer and defensive end Joshua Farmer are rated as three-star recruits by the composite rankings (a combination of all recruiting services).

However, ESPN has bumped both of them up to four-star players, which we said was possible when they committed a couple of months ago.

The two players are a testament to Mike Norvell and the staff’s ability to trust their evaluations. They targeted Luke Altmyer early, and Joshua Farmer was the first 2021 player to commit to Mike Norvell and staff.

The latter hac no composite ranking whatsoever when he committed in late January. It’s also good to see the two players celebrate their accomplishments together on social media.

It makes it seem like there are a family atmosphere and a bond to build something great within the class and to help the Noles rise back to prominence.
