FSU football: Former Alabama player fails to troll 2013 champs

Offense

SP+ advanced metrics stat the Noles had the No. 3 ranked offense in the nation that year. That’s despite starters sitting on the sidelines most of the second-half playing hangman.

That offense is better than the LSU offense we just saw the past season. LSU took an extra game to beat FSU’s record for points in a season and only did it by three points.

The Noles averaged 51 points per game and averaged 7.67 yards per play. FSU’s ground game averaged 5.63 yards per rush, and they converted third downs 52.23 percent of the time.

Their red zone success was an astounding 97 percent with 71 scores on 73 opportunities.

Alabama had the No. 6 offense that year and averaged 38 points and 7.15 yards per play. They averaged 5.80 yards per rush and converted third downs 47.62 percent of the time.

Their red zone success was 79 percent with 43 scores on 54 attempts. FSU football had the better quarterback with Jameis Winston’s numbers being far superior to AJ McCarron.

Let’s not forget Winston won the Heisman Trophy that season. The Noles also had two 1,000 yard receivers in Rashad Greene and Kelvin Benjamin with Kenny Shaw finishing just shy of the mark with 933 yards.

FSU easily wins this phase of the game.
