People Forgot How Bad Tampa Bay Was Before Jameis Winston

For all the grief people want to give Jameis Winston, I think they have forgotten how bad Tampa Bay was before his arrival in 2015.

Here’s where they were offensive the two seasons before him:

  • 18 ppg, 5.13 ypp (2013)
  • 17.3 ppg, 5.65 ypp (2014)

The 2019 reason season saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers average 28.6 ppg(No. 4 in NFL) and 6.39 ypp.

Did Jameis Winston lead the lead in interceptions thrown? Absolutely, but he was also No. 2 in the league with 33 touchdowns thrown.

It should be mentioned he played with an injured thumb, practically blind, and had to have surgery on a torn meniscus in the off-season. Can we talk about how he’s had basically no running game or anyone else to throw to besides Mike Evans and Chris Godwin?

The problem wasn’t the offense, it was the defense that allowed 28.1 ppg (fourth-worst in the NFL).
