Former FSU football quarterback Jameis Winston is leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He gave his thoughts on social media.

Jameis Winston was selected with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After multiple NFL records and Tampa Bay records set in his five years in the league, Winston’s time in Tampa Bay is officially over as Tom Brady was signed by the organization to a two-year deal.

Winston likely has a few options on the table, though most people believe he will have to take a backup role with whatever team he goes to.

I still believe it’s ridiculous people believe he’s only good enough to be a backup in the NFL as he had very little to work within Tampa Bay.

As always, Winston kept it classy in giving his thoughts on leaving Tampa Bay via his Twitter account.

Thoughts

There’s a bit of reading between the lines there with Winston. The reference to 20/20 vision could be referring to him having LASIK eye surgery during the off-season.

It could be he’s saying he’s learned a great deal during his time in Tampa Bay and will apply those lessons wherever he lands.

The Super Bowl is set to take place in Tampa Bay this season as well. Did Jameis Winston throw a ton of interceptions last season? Absolutely, but as the tweet below suggests, he’s still awfully good a lot of the times too.

I firmly believe Jameis Winston is one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. He simply needs more talent around him. Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans will likely realize fairly quickly the problem wasn’t so much Jameis Winston as it was the entire organization as a whole.

Here’s to hoping Winston lands with an organization that gives him a shot to compete for the starting job.
