FSU softball moved up in the rankings after going 5-0 in the JoAnne Graf Classic. They’ve gotten off to a tremendous start in 2020.

No. 5 FSU softball (6-0, 0-0 ACC) has already made a lot of noise in the young softball season. The Noles opened things up with an extra-inning 2-1 win over North Carolina who’s now ranked No. 25 in the nation.

They followed that up with a huge come from behind extra-inning win over No. 1 Alabama. The Noles trailed 7-2 going into the final frame before scoring five runs capped off by a grand slam from Dani Morgan.

FSU softball went on to score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to win 8-7. They blasted Detroit 22-0 in five-innings before taking out Alabama for the second time 8-0 in five innings.

Coach Lonnie Alameda notched her 700 career win in a five-inning shutout win over Detroit to close out the JoAnne Graf Classic.

FSU ladies swept ACC Player of the Week Honors during the first week of the season.

That’s two extra-inning games and three mercy-rule games for those keeping score at home. The Noles returned to action Wednesday night with a 10-2 mercy-rule win over FAMU.

FSU has a daunting schedule in front of them as they’ll begin to play in the St. Pete/Clearwater Elite Invitational.

They’ll take on the new No. 1 team in the nation Washington Friday at 1 p.m. They’ll follow that up with a game against No. 13 Minnesota at 6 p.m. followed by a game against No. 23 Northwestern Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

They’ll return to action Sunday against Liberty at 2:30 p.m. before wrapping up play in the St. Pete/Clearwater Invitational against No. 2 UCLA at 7 p.m. ET.
