FSU football: 3 blue chip players from 2016 who need to shine in 2020
By Kelvin Hunt
Baveon Johnson
Baveon Johnson was the second highest-rated offensive lineman to sign with the Noles in 2016. He came in as the No. 43 player overall and the No. 1 ranked center in the nation.
It’s always tough for offensive linemen to contribute as true freshmen and it was expected Johnson would redshirt to add size and strength with Alec Eberle manning the center position.
Johnson did that while contributing to the scout team but managed to miss all of the 2017 due to injuries.
He only saw action in four games (Samford, Wake Forest, Clemson and Florida) in 2018 with many thinking he’d be an upgrade over Alec Eberle in 2019.
He did fix his snapping issues for the most part and started 11 games but needs to get better at anchoring in the middle of the line.
The 2020 season will be his last crack at making an impact and finally living up to his lofty recruiting ranking.
