FSU football is working to round out its 2020 recruiting class. They added some athleticism in 2020 tight end Markeston Douglas.

FSU football has been on a roll trying to complete its 2020 recruiting class while laying the foundation for 2021 and beyond.

The Noles received a committments Sunday, Monday and now Tuesday with the addition of Darion Williamson and Markeston Douglas.

Douglas is a player that has slowly seen his recruitment pick up as National Signing Day looms.

He’s received offers from Michigan State, Virginia and Kansas but had it narrowed down to FSU or Michigan State as those are the only two schools he visited.

Their high school coach attended Central Arkansas along with FSU head coach Mike Norvell.

Douglas doesn’t have a composite rating, largely because he’s only played one year of high school football. However, he brings great size at 6’5″ 255 pounds to the tight end position.

Thoughts

The Noles do have a need for depth at the tight end position with Tre McKitty opting to hit the transfer portal a few weeks ago.

He ultimately ended up at Georgia which means the Noles only have two scholarship tight ends on the roster in junior Camren McDonald and true freshman Carter Boatright who just enrolled this spring.

Douglas is a raw inexperienced player who’ll need a lot of work to develop with tight ends coach Chris Thomsen. However, Thomsen’s one of the reasons he wanted to commit because he feels he can be developed according to an interview with Noles247 while visiting campus.

At the very least Douglas is an athletic body who could develop into a good run blocking tight end early in his career with the size he has. Heck, it’s possible he could play defensive end with the size he has too.

Douglas’s high school teammate Darion Williamson committed to the Noles earlier Tuesday.
