October 3rd – at NC State, SP+ Final Ranking No. 98

This has always been a house of horrors for the Noles and their last visit there in 2018 was no different. However, NC State finished (4-8. 1-7 ACC) and lost their last six games in lopsided affairs. FSU football was finally able to beat the Wolfpack in 2019, stopping a two game loosing streak. It’s a game the Noles should win in 2020 as they’ll be coming off a bye week and should be prepared as long as they are not looking past NC State with Clemson on deck. Trust me, there’s no reason to look forward to Clemson other than it’s a home game.

October 10th – Clemson, SP+ Final Ranking No. 4

The team that’s ruled the ACC since 2015 returns after getting rolled in the national championship game against LSU. They return a lot of firepower in QB Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Ettienne. Clemson finished the season (14-1, 8-0 ACC) and is one of the games FSU fans can chalk up as a lose in 2020 more than likely. I do expect FSU to be more competitive than the last two years just from a better coaching perspective. However, it’ll be a good litmus test to see if that gap has been closed any at all.

October 17th – Wake Forest, SP+ Final Ranking No. 57

This is a game FSU football had no business losing in 2019. Wake Forest (8-5, 4-4 ACC) beat the Noles with their backup quarterback. It’s a game they can’t afford to allow turn into a loss after probably losing to Clemson in the prior week. Wake Forest QB Jamie Newman is gone, although he didn’t play against the Noles last season. This is a game a better coached FSU team should win every single year because of the talent gap.

October 24th – at Louisville, SP+ Final Ranking No. 63

Scott Satterfield really turned that Louisville program around in his first year. They finished (8-5-5-3 ACC) after winning just two games the year prior to his arrival. The Noles managed to beat that Louisville team as the Cardinals have the honor of being the only ACC opponent Willie Taggart was able to beat twice(Odell Haggins coached against Boston College in 2019). This will be a tough game with the Miami game on deck the following week.

October 31st – Pittsburgh, SP+ Final Ranking No. 49

FSU football hasn’t faced the Pittsburgh Panthers since Jameis Winston debuted in FSU’s historic 2013 national championship season. The Panthers (8-5, 4-4 ACC) had a very up and down season, losing games they should have won and vice versa. It’s hard to gauge a ACC Coastal opponent you rarely play, but Pittsburgh won its bowl game against Eastern Michigan after losing to the likes of Boston College and getting shutout by Virginia Tech. FSU is the more talented team and will be playing at home on Halloween so that should be fun. This is a game that can be overlooked with Miami on deck the next week.
