FSU football needs to close strong with its 2020 recruiting class. However, the coaching staff is already on the trails for 2021.

I’ve written all about how FSU football needs to begin address its 2021 class while finishing up the few remaining spots for 2020.

Less than a week ago the Noles had already sent out 158 offers to 2021 recruits from a variety of places. The majority of them were to Florida and Georgia players followed by Texas and California.

That number is now up to 167 in just five days.

The state of Tennessee  is an area familiar to a number of the coaches on the staff being that a few of them last coached at Memphis and recruiting coordinator David Johnson at the University of Tennessee.

FSU had placed five offers out at the time of that piece and now has dipped back into the Volunteer state for a 2021 defensive end.

This is the type of thing FSU football is going to have to do more often, offer a player before all the other major players and cultivate the relationship.

Alex Okelo doesn’t have a composite rankings and only holds three offers from FSU, Tennessee and Louisville. Those two schools just offered Okelo earlier in the day before FSU.

He stands 6’6″ 217 pounds and is almost the identical height and weight of former FSU football standout defensive end Brian Burns who ultimately became a high four-star recruit and first round NFL Draft pick.

The Noles have a huge position of need at defensive end as they’ll be losing both Joshua Kaindoh and Janarius Robinson after the 2020 season. They only have two defensive ends in the 2020 class.

As a junior, Okelo had 36 tackles with seven sacks in just nine games played. He looks to be raw but plays both basketball and football and is clearly athletic. This one could be a player to keep an eye on as 2021 rankings continue to be updated.
